How much can the head and block be decked without danger of something cracking? I have heard of taking .125 off of head and block. Let me have some opinions. Thanks

John; I would agree with our fellow forum writers and only take what is necessary to provide a true surface to seal the gasket between the block and the head. If you are looking to increase compression for the purpose of more performance, look to Gary at Triple "G" Services, or Hinrich's Repair for a set of high compression pistons.

Yes if they are stock and have not had anything taken off before you can take off .125 on each I have seen as much as.250 taken off the head. But don't do it.Never take of more than you have to because you may have to deck them again sometime.
