before i tear off into this, i figured i would post a question here to see if someone knows the answer. i am working on a unstyled JD model G with loose steering. the sector gear on top of the pedestal is worn and i bought a NOS one. part number is supposed to be F245R. when i removed the old gear, I found the part #A116R cast on it but it's X'ed out and the F245R number is stamped in individual letters and numbers to the side. it appears to me that the steering shaft on the G is from an A. so my question is are the steering shafts interchangeable between the tractors? i have access to a JD model A NOS steering shaft. or maybe i should try to find a NOS sector gear from a model A.

Likely the same casting was machined to different part numbers.

The steering shaft should exit out the front on a G pedistle. On styled A and g modles the gear is different.
