Advice on selling 2520

Guys,
Would appreciate your advice. My dad passed on last year and we sold most equipment, but kept the 2520 gas/nf/syncho and 709 rotary mower. 9 months later and Mom is now in a nursing home so we're looking at selling a few more things.

I am too far away (300 miles) and don't have room to keep the 2520 at my place. Love the tractor but really can't justify keeping it. I know they're worth some money, and would like everyone's advice on how to approach selling.

The tractor is in west-central Ohio. 3000 hours, and other than needing a coat of paint, is in pretty good shape overall.

Advice, suggestions, council please!
Fred G

I also would be interested in the 2520. Could you email me with a better description? Thanks.

Matt

Your tractor may be worth more to a collector. Those 2520's can go high around here ...but that is diesel widefront. I have seen nf gas 3020's go for 3500. I sold my 2520 gas widefront synchro-range with 3000 hours for 5300 back in 94...but it had been recently overhauled at the John Deere dealer. I would say don't take less than 2500 and don't expect over 4000.

Thanks for the info. The tractor and mower were appraised at about $7K a year ago and I have seen 709's for sale for $2K so $4K for the tractor alone is probably not too far off the mark. If it was a Diesel/PS I'm sure the price would be a lot higher.

My best advice is clean it up if it needs it, take some digital pictures, then advertise on this site. I have had very good luck here. As for pricing, I bought a 2520 gas SR that ran excellent with ave paint for $5900 last year then turned around and sold for the same price when I found a 2520 gas PS in excellent condition. I had to give 7000 for it and had to beat off several other buyers who were offering more. That is in Illinois. Plus you have the value of the mower. Just my 2 cents.

That is good advice, I will give it some thought.

Thanks!
