Clayton,
Is your tractor equiped with a four-speed transmission or six speed?

Clayton:

Your A is an early 1940 model. It is not rare, but would make a very nice tractor once restored. The slant dash model left the factory with electric start, and the reason for the long hood and slanted dash was to accomodate the battery.

This was the first model year to receive the 6-3/4 inch stroke, 321 CID engine (up from 6-1/2 and 309 CID) and an increase in compression ratio from 3.9:1 to 4.45:1. The HP at the Belt Pully went up to 29.59 from 24.71. It also received the 15 spline axels, which are much easier to find wheels for than the 12 spline axels used from mid '37 (460000) thru '39 (487999).
