When did they (year) start putting Roll O Matics, and Powr Trol on JD A's. Serial number is not readable. Thanks

1947 on the roll o matic fronts. Hydraulics have been available on Deere's since the 30's, don't know when Deere coined the term Power troll.

I believe that the Por-Trol system came available the same time as the Roll-A-Matic. The earlier hydraulic system was called "Powr-Lift" and was an all the way up or all the way down hydraulically operated rockshaft only. Powr-Trol added the feature of variable position of up and down, as well as the capability of powering a remote cylinder.

I could be wrong, but the S/N 477,000 sticks in my mind as the point of availability.

Frank,

I believe 477000 was the start of the styled models, in the 1939 model year. 584000 was the start of the "late styled" models, with the pressed steel frame, square seat, Powr-Trol, Roll-o-Matic, etc.

Best regards,

Stan

Yes, Stan, I'm sure you're right. I just could not remember. 477,000 was stuck in my head.

Thanks !

Frank
