My draft link telesoping ends will not extend due to the fact that the draft link locks are rusted in. I have the draft links off, knobs removed with just the stem sticking out. I have heated the draft link till it was glowing and then pulled on the stem with a crowbar no joy. thinking of just burning the lock out with the torch and replacing with new locks. Do you guys have any ideas or better experiences doing same? Thanks Clay

there are two types of telescopic lift arms on 4020, the square ones (like 3020) and the heavier duty type (like on bigger tractors). on the square ones there is access to the lock pins from below, but the end tends to get 'stuck' in the arm, which as descibed below, cold be a real problem and may require replacement of the arm.
on the other type, the end usually do not get stuck but the locks do. a way to remove them: remove the lock's knob and sheet metal holder, weld a 1/2" high stregth bolt to the lock (using a high strength rod), then install on the bolt a large thick washer and pull with a high grade nut.
soaking with penetrant for a few days before may greatly help.

heat it up as hot as you can get it and let is sit, do that a buch of times and see what happens
do not dip them in water as it will take the hardness out of them

Good luck. I once had one that had no lock pin but was rusted severe. I stood it up and soaked inside with pen. oil in drain hole. I then heated and cooled, no luck. I then chained it to a large tree, hooked to 4440 then heated several times and damaged chain not to mention holes in ground. Decided to leave 4650 mfd in shed rather than damage something else. I could just see explaining to my dad why the tree was resting on his 4650 cab roof. Something I seldom do I gave up and let the iron gods win. Better luck to you.

Burning the lock out may make a bigger mess! Heat and let it cool, many times. Then try your bar.
