Model B Radiator Shutters

What does the mechanism look like for controlling the shutters on the later model B? I seem to recall that there was a small control on the right hand side where the throttle lever is on my 50. My reason for asking is that I've got one of the earlier thermostat controlled shutters on my model 50 (which does not work) and I'd like to make a manual control for it.

Currently I'm controlling the shutters with a lawnmower-type throttle cable but it's not a good setup and gets stuck too often.

I'm guessing the shutter control lever on the model B hooked to a rod that ran up to the radiator and then worked on a pivot to move the shutters.

John, the late "B" used a big wing nut type screw & also used a bell-crank to change the rod direction as it went forward.
~Not real sure how you are going to get a "B" shutter control rod to mate up with your 50 shutters. The "B" shutter was controlled on the R/H top corner through a pivot & link & your 50 shutters hooked to the thermostat on the bottom of the radiator. Maybe you can flip the 50 shutters over & make a new pivot crank lever to go on the R/H top..

Clooney, I know it was probably a typo, but it was the EARLY B that used the big wing nut to control the shutters, late Bs used a lever below and smaller than the throttle lever. Thanks to you for all your helpful answers. Bob

Bob, you're correct.... I saw the [late] goof as soon as posted it & wondered how long it would take someone to figure it out. You win the prize of the day. It should have read EARLY. The late shutter control on the post wouldn't work on the 50 as the 50 doesn't have a post for the throttle or shutter control to mount to...I have a late B with that post mounted shutter control lever & that is the easiest tractor to keep the temperature adjusted on I have ever owned...
