Sounds as if "Steve" is highly educated & I agree with his response, as I'm also tired of paying well beyond my "FAIR" share of taxes(ours just went up 3rd time in 12yrs.)*I could have swore that Indiana law states only 1 appraisal every 10 yrs.HMmmm?*,I have no children & don't mind paying to educate others, but do mind paying for the deadbeats who do not work & are as capable as myself to do so!!There, now I feel better!!HA!Good Luck Gentlemen*

I wouldn't normally respond, but I've just ponied up a big check for property tax mostly destined for the care and feeding of educrats; and because your email address tags you one of the aforementioned critters who's using taxpayer supplied facilities to conduct personal business at the expensive of the home state of Trent Lott, Calhoun County taxpayers, Wildcats, et cetera in Calhoun City -- this may apply doubly:

The caption above this page reads as follows.

"No Advertising of any kind is allowed here. This includes For-Sale and Wanted-To-Buy items. Use the classified ads page for these."

Please LEARN to READ the rules. How's that for pedantic? The classifieds will garner more more valid responses, and less grief. What's more, the capitalist system so villfied in public schools provides this service to you - free of charge.

You may now stay after school and write "I shall not sell" on the electronic chalkboard 100 times.

They say the art of tact is making a point without making an enemy. If I've done both: so be it. If one or the other: I'm only batting .500. If neither: then I've failed, and will be condemned to every increasing property taxes (as if that wasn't already in the cards).

Just checked the YT Classified with the following results.

Total ads 1713 (too many to check all)
Deere ads 290 (still too many)
Deere 3010 ads 3 (no engines)

Maybe checking the John Deere Discussion was the best place to check even if it is a no-no and at the risk of being jumped on buy the correct police. I see he did get results.

Steve-IN Sore because you had to pay taxes?
To bad you are gonna do that and die, No way around that. By the way did you think that guy
was using public facilities at that hour ? Maybe
you were so eager to vent your anger you didn't look. Did you ever consider some people in our neck of the woods have a home computer in addition to running water?

wb,
Sore because taxes go up at 4 to 8X the rate of inflation while the quality of service declines at a about the same rate. Ever decreasing SAT scores and the only trick they know is to throw more money at the problem. Would you be happy with that result? I think not.

You can tell from the email used that it is a public facility - k12.us is a public school suffix. So I did look, and I think he should have used his home computer. Same thing holds true for someone using a computer in private industry.

As for the main point: few in this world are greater martinets than public school officials. You'd think they'd be the first ones to read and follow the rules, don't you?

The guy selling decals in the post immediately below didn't bother me, the county school system funded email address did.

I think it's because the email address, [email protected] indicates that the user is an employee of a school system somewhere, and someone is a little cranked about it. As for me, My kids are getting a great education from underpaid teachers here in Kansas, and I have no qualms about paying taxes for that. If they use the school email system for a little personal business, so what? Everyone in Corporate America does that.

What burns me about paying taxes is that a bunch of it is used to feed and house, in fine comfort, criminals who should be chained together and out in the ditches chopping thistle, picking up trash, fixing signs, potholes, etc. Might encourage them to try to stay out of prison once their sentence is up. Sorry, for the rant, I just got done sending in a big tax payment..... .

Bob, thanks for the defense. I am in agreement with you about the taxes and the good treatment given to criminals. And you are dead on about educators being underpaid. You may not be aware but our state is at the bottom on that list. Thanks again.
