Can a 404 engine out of a 6600 combine be installed into a 4240 tractor? I know that the waterpump and oilpan must be changed . Will the bolts on the clutch housing line up? Any other problems that I might run into? The combine engine only had about 1700 hours on when stored and still runs as good as ever. Any advice or help will be welcomed.

Yah, the clutch housing will bolt right up, also the oil pump pickup tube and screen, throttle linkage(unless you're using the 4240 inj. pump), injectors?, exhaust manifold, front pulley/dampener, dipstick, fuel return line from the injectors, and possibly the thermostat housing will have to be exchanged. And replace the rear crankshaft seal while you're there. good luck chris

Make sure you engine is drilled in the front for the 4 hydraulic pump adapter bolts. Some combine engines aren't.
