I am thinking of buying a D. I would acctually like to buy a project. I am in tennesse and wondering what D's are bringing. I have no problems if its stuck or in bad shape from sitting. The cheaper the better. I know its more in the long run but right now i have plenty of time to tinker. Thanks Chris

I've got 3 styled D's for sale. You can get 2 running D's out of the 3. The 1 has good sheet metal and is all complete. $3500.00 for all 3. E-mail for phone #. Can send pictures. N.W. Ohio. Delivery possible. Bryan

Chris, I can't help you on the price on a late D but can offer a little information on buying a stuck one. The D is a very expensive tractor to buy engine parts for. Most I have seen are stuck pretty tight & usually need pistons & boring or at least one sleeve. Even the valves are prone to sticking & being non serviceable. It will probably cost way more to start with a stuck D than buying a running one. Even doing most of the work yourself you could easily have more into a stuck D than it is worth..

Amen, Clooney! I am restoring a 47 D that was stuck. Some of the prices for parts and machine work are:
Valves: $94 each, Pistons (aluminum aftermarket): $800 a set without pins, Bore/Hone block: $250 (not counting deck & mag), Re-sleeve block: $600 per hole, re-babbet rods: $200, and the list goes on and on. I agree with Clooney, It's better to purchase a running D for restoration. That way you have a general idea what repairs are needed. It can be a real disappointment to put $1500 in a D engine only to find out the transmission needs rebuilt. Good Luck!
