Hi,

I live in Michigan and have purchased a tractor (by phone)in Ohio. I thought I could put it on a car hauling trailer from my local rental place and go pick it up. Unfortunately the dimmensions just arn't lining up. The tractor is too heavy and too wide.

Does anyone know how to arrange shipment via some commercial freight company? Any other ideas??

Thanks!

Marc

Check with some local trucking companies, if thay have run near were your tractor is located thay may be able to pick it up on the return trip. I did that about 3 years ago when I moved to TN. I had 5 tractors moved to TN from NY on a truck and I think it cost me about $1,400. I also did the car hauling trailer with one because thay all wouldn't fit on the truck. I don't recomend it, had a U-haul trailer and 28ft U-haul truck. The tractor was within the weight limits of the trailer but U-haul dosen't take very good care of their equipment. I rented 2 trucks, one blew the transmission and the one hauling the tractor blew all the tires off the back, not a fun thing to try and stop while rolling down the interstate.

Look at the column to the left of this and you will find "Hauling Schedule". Click on that, post your problem and see what happens.

Marc, you can try this link for hauling schedules http://www.ytmag.com/cgi-bin/haulquery.pl
~The last time I needed to move a piece of equipment that was too heavy for my trailer I just found a local guy with a dozer trailer & dump truck & paid him to get it for me. The cost was reasonable considering, but he had to work it into his schedule.. Took about a week
