The 2020 will turn to the left properly, but when turning right it only seems to move the wheels 1/2 the distance necessary to turn without using the right brake. Anyone had a similar experience?

SUPPERHANK: IF YOUR 2020 IS LIKE MY 3020 IT HAS HYDROLIC STEARING, LOOK FOR A SMALL OIL LEAK THAT MOST LIKLY WILL BE ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE HOOD DRIPING ON THE ENGINE. THE HYDROLIC LINES ARE LOCATED UNDER THAT SIDE OF THE HOOD AND ARE THE ONLY MICHANICAL HOOKUP FOR THE STEERING. ANY LEAK IN ETHER LINE WILL ALLOW AIR INTO THE SYSTEM. YOU WILL ALSO START TO LOSE OTHER HYDROLICS AFTER A WHILE BECAUSE THEY BOTH RUN OFF THE SAME RESIVOR. SO FIND THAT LEAK. ALSO ONE LINE IS FOR TURNING LEFT THE OTHER RIGHT SO WHICH EVER WAY YOU ARE HAVING PROBLEMS THAT WILL BE THE LINE WITH THE LEAK.

is it power steering? if it is, is it closed center system? did it happen suddenly or gradually? was any work done on the sreering or front axle?

I may wind up posting this twice. The power steering has own pump at front of engine so I assume that it is a closed system. The problem existed when it was bought 4 years ago but the steering linkage was set with the adjustabel arm long on left and standard or short on right. Was taken to JD shop and linkage set to factory specs but unable to explain why it turns properly to left but short to right. My MF when turning left operates like the 2020 but when turning right makes big turn. Comparing the two the JD seems like it is not over steering left and under steering right if you get my meaning. No repair to steering or axle while I owned it. Thanks again

if the steering works otherwise properly,it seems your drag link is short (1020 drag link) measure its length and compare to another tractor (1020 or 2020) or to a correct drag link in a parts depot.
btw this is the open center type. the closed center system have a single pump for all high pressure hydraulics incl.steering.
if it's not the drag link, you should isolate it:
disconnect drag link at the bellcrank, raise front of tractor until front wheels are off the ground and rotate system by moving wheels left and right and see if you have full steering movemwnt(equal to left and right). if you don't, something is wrong with the steering mechanism on the front axle. if you do,(have equal movement) then the problem is within the steering valve.
