John Deere 60 rock shaft operation

I just bought a '54 J.D. 60. I have a '37 "A" and the 60 is the first tractor with the rock shaft that I have owned. I'm not sure on the operation of the rock shaft. I want to put a 3-point on it and want to make sure everything works first. I engaged the hydraulic pump and moved the lever on the powertrol but nothing happened. It has hydraulic couplers on the power trol. I hooked a cylinder up and the hydraulics work good. I can move the rockshaft with a big wrench so that part isn't seized. Is there something I'm doing wrong or is there a problem with the tractor? I haven't picked up a manual for it yet but plan to soon. Any help is appreciated.

Keith, it sounds like you have the wrong plugs in the back of the power-trol valve body to run the rock shaft. It needs OPEN FRONT plugs in the hose ports to run the on tractor rock shaft. The remote cylinder uses CLOSED FRONT plugs [adapters] to block off the on tractor rock shaft & divert the hydraulic oil to the remote cylinder.
~There is also a possibility you have side plumbed remote couplers & then it could have a 2 position valve in the top hose port to change the oil flow from rock shaft to remote cylinder operation.....
