The Hercules QXD-3 has 64 HP as listed in the 55 Operator's Manual.

The John Deere HE 217 G has 71 hp. The newer 55s have the 303. 80 hp.

Also depends on if it is an older 55 with the Hercules engine, or later with the JD engine. The later JD engine I would imagine had more HP.

It depends on if it is gear drive or hydraulic drive. I belive I read in my 55 hydro manual that a hydro is 80 or 85hp and a gear drive is 10hp less. I can look it up and let you know.
