Just noticed a carburetor repair kit (for TSX-809 and TSX-860) for sale on eBay. They are looking for a starting bid of $29.95. I just bought the same thing from my local dealer this week for $19. Maybe auctions aren't always the bargains they are sometimes thought to be.

Some of the items on Ebay are priced higher that what you can find (or order)at the local dealer or supply store. The benifits from using Ebay or other online auctions would be finding kits, parts, or other items that are either discontinued, or the dealer/supply store doesn't have or can't order. Trying to get a part for your Olivers, Farmalls, older Deeres or other brands that have not been in production for several decades. The used parts supply get their parts from salvage either on hand or from other supply places. The auction sellers (when dealing with older parts and kits) have parts on hand from machines that they themselves are parting to keep another machine running, or parts to machines that they no longer have. The only way not to get the short end of the deal is to know what they are selling and the availability in the area that you are in.

Most of the parts I've seen on Ebay are priced at list price or over,it's just a retail store.

I too have noticed that ebay is usually quite expensive, then you add shipping on top of the price it gets crazy. Beware of hidden charges, I once bought a part that said you pay actual shipping charges and they tried to hit me with a $50 handling charge on top of that. The only upside I see is they have some hard to find manuals, reasonably priced sometimes too. Unfortunatly guys that read this board often sell on ebay because they know they can get a premium price for thier parts. I have met a few great people on this board that have made me some great deals, and I thank them for helping me and not being just profit minded. Mike
