I bought my 70D a year ago, and got it runing. We had to put in a new head, block, pistons, injectors, pumps and clutch. I runs ok seems to be a little under powered compaired to my G,but eversince i first started it. When you disengaged the cluch it makes alot of nosie, but here latey it seems to make a lot more noise. If i rock the clutch drum you can feel something give. So i thought rod, but if i relese the compresion valves and turn it two ar three complete cycles. You don't feel it give. So i think thats not it. I pulled the drum off it and it still did it. How much slop should the pto gear have. It moves alittle bit. how much work is it tear it a part? Any ideas would help.

Larry, the first thing that comes to mind is that the flywheel is loose. Even though it is on the other side it will sound like the clutch area & will get louder with the clutch disengaged.
~If it isn't the flywheel loose maybe it is the little idler gear in the rear bottom of the 1st reduction cover area[another problem area].
~The other place that is a problem area is the cam gears & idler gear inside the L/H timing gear cover but that noise pretty well sounds like it is on the L/H side.
~The PTO drive gear tends to run a little loose on those diesels & doesn't seem to be a big problem...
~Those diesels have a lot of moving parts & due to the high compression firing loads do hammer the parts pretty good.
