I resently purchased a johne deere model a 1948, the oil and amp gauges was working. I ordered a white face gauge to replace the temp.gauge, it was backordered for about a month. So I purchased one at Walmart until I got the orginial one. the one from Walmart did not work, than I got the original one and put it on and it does not work neiter. Am I doing something wrong or is all 3 gauges wrong?? Please help

Frank, the temp gauge isnt related or dependant on any of the other gauges. When you loosen the gauges sender, is there plenty of water there??? It should pour out strongly. If not, theres a blockage and water isnt gettign in contact with the sender. If youre not under load, those gauges may not hardly move but they are atually okay. Close the shutters if you have any or block air from enterign the radiator and try to put a load on her and see if they dont rise then. I have installed new ones and didnt see them move for long periods until I loaded the tractor.

Frank, try putting the bulb end of the temp gage in boiling water [don't let it touch the pan]. It [they] should show around 212. If the gages are working correctly either the tractor is running real cold [block the radiator & re-try it], or the gage bulb is being blocked from touching the water....
