Hi, The standard M had one light on the left front, aimed forward, and one white light on the right rear fender. The original fender bracket allowed you to swivel the light to face either forward or rearward. The MT had one light on each rear fender. They swivelled in the same manner as the fender mounted light on the standard M. The MC had one light, aimed forward, on the left front and one light, aimed rearward, on the left rear fender. Since the crawler has flat fenders over the tracks, this one didn't do you any good to swivel it. These were the 'normal' mounting points. Of course, dealers (and even the factory) commonly altered these things and moved the lights around - as was mentioned in an earlier reply. The three-brush generator on the M could not feed more than two lamps. In fact, it can't even feed two of the modern-day sealed beam lamps for long periods. The original lamps used small wattage bulbs in housings that had seperate bits (shell, reflector, lens). The late production 40's and even later 420's had a much more powerful generator and those machines ran with three lamps, using higher wattage bulbs than the M's did.
