A man is selling a set of cultivators he said he took off a 1942 John Deere B model, "the small size B that is the same size as an H model". I had told him I was looking for a set for a 41-42 H model. He thought they would fit the H. Does anyone know if they would fit or do I have to measure everything to know?

Thanks for any help/advise.

Bill,

I have a set of 2 row cultivators off a B that I put on my 42 H. They have the quick attach bracket on them, all I had to do was make four spacers where the cultivators bolt to the frame. Two for the aligning studs and two where your bolt the cultivator to the frame. I did have to do some grinding on the the lower front brace of the cultivator where it sits in the quick attach bracket, only minor though. The only thing you lose is some lifting height but other then that they worked great in my garden last year. I now have the same set mounted on a 530. Good luck.

I wouldn't bet on it. In mid-1937, the unstyled B was lengthened 5" so it would be the same length as the A and G, and therefore would make it possible to stock fewer types of attached implements. Unstyled B's made prior to the change are referred to as "short-frame B's" and B's made after are referred to as "long-frame."

I just went to another board, you know, the one with the specifications over on the left side of the screen. It says that the early styled B's, 1939-46 were 120.5 inches long and the H was 111.3 inches.
