I am getting an A running...can I run it in for short duration of time with out the fan shaft assembly in it? it is the only thing I have not gotten done, and I need to move the tractor? I can't see where it would hurt anything...
ALSO, can I still get a lower radiator tank gasket from JD? and does anyone know what they cost? thanks, AC

I don't know what year the model A is you are working on so I can't give you a part number but your JD dealer has these gaskets. I don't recall the price but it seems like they were reasonable. I don't think that running your tractor without the fanshaft in place for 2-5 minutes will harm anything (I'm assuming everything else is in place). That being said, remember that you pretty much disabled your cooling system and once it warms up it will get hot fast and then bad things will start happening fast.

The gaskets are available from mother deere. I would post the part nos, but my parts CD is at work. Remember Time and Patience are the key with disassembling the radiator!!! Enjoy

Try your local radiator repair place for a gasket. What I heard is they have a roll of stuff, you cut off pices for the 4 sides so they overlap at the corners, then bolt it all together.

Yeah, I fired it up for about 30 seconds today with no radiator and it didn't get warm, but I tried to move it a foot forward and a foot backward (I had the trans and clutch apart this winter ) everything is ok, but if I throw the clutch in, she smokes, bad, so something is out of adjustment....now another thing to do....Oh well, thanks, AC
