On our 2510 and our 2520, when you step on the brakes to stop, they chatter.

I work for the local JD Dealer here in wisconsin, i believe i asked my friends there if this is normal for the new generation tractors or not because the 3010 and the 4020 there both do the same thing.

what i am wondering, is, is this normal for these tractors or do all of the tractors i mentioned in this post need brake jobs performed?

thank you in advance for any feed back

Pull the hydraulic filter off and check for a silvery paste in the filter or housing. If you have this, you need brakes. Otherwise the chatter you are hearing is more or less normal for a tractor this age. The chatter can be made worse by the use of some non-Deere hydraulic fluids in the past. The noise is a combination of wear, glazed brake discs, and age. Sometimes, changing the hydraulic fluid and filter and refilling with JD Hy-Guard can help the chattering, not immediately, but after the brake additives have a chance to do their job.
