One of my neighbors told me awhile back that several years ago he saw a device that attaches to the powertrol to compensate for the lack of draft control on two cylinder tractors. Not knowing the dynamics of a three point hitch plow, I am assuming that when the points are slanted down too far, it tends to push on the top link and when they are pointed up, it would tend to pull on the top link. He said about all he could remember was that there was a big spring where the top links connects and a rod that was attached to the powertrol control lever. I'm guessing the way it works is that when the top link pushes, it pushes the control rod forward, raising the plow until the points are neutral again.

Is there such a device?

If you are talking about an 800-801 hitch on an a-b-g-50-60-70- there was no factory offered compensator that I know of. The plows designed to be used with this hitch had a guage wheel, strictly to hold plow depth. On the 20 and 30 series tractors, there was a valve that was controled internally by the position of the top link bracket. Your draft was controled by the selection of one of the 3 holes in the top link bracket on the tractor, and a limiter with an adjustment screw was offered to fine tune the control.

RLA, yes all the 40-420-430 models came with the load control on the touch-o-matic lifts. It works similar to the way you explained. I don't know what other model Deeres had this...
