I know this is my second question in under an hour but I just could not get this one off my mind. Wondering how my 50 would compare with an IH "H." Thanks for any help.

I think Mike J had the most conclusive answer below. It would be interesting to see what the I-H people would say about the H. On this board a lot of people are pretty down on the 1010. I have a feeling that the red people wouldn't talk much better about the H. I grew up with red tractors and the impression I always had was that the H was too big to be a small tractor and too small to be a big tractor so wasn't a whole lot of good to anybody. As I recall they had no live power, poor hydraulics, etc.

Gee.... If the H was such a dismal performer why did IHC sell over 397,000 of them in the 14 yrs they built them? Plus the few extra thousand W-4's, I-4's, O-4's, and OS-4's not included in that quantity. That's almost 78 tractors a DAY every day 24/7/365 for 14 yrs. I know if I was running a tractor daily and had a choice between Dad's old '39 H and the '40 styled B He had several years later I'd take the H. The B had no elec. start/light, hyd.. No comparison between the two in ease of operation. I think Stock tractor verses stock tractor a 50 vs. a Super H in a more even comparison.... and You check the Neb. drawbar pull ratings I think You'll see the Super H wins by quite a margin. Good luck finding a stock tractor now though. My $0.02

Yes and no. A local with a little 620 rowcrop wide front in the 10,000lb class is the local terror who walks past wd's, 80,820,830's etc. Unless you state some numbers about hitch height, tire size, inflation pressure, tire brand and model, tractor weight, fore/aft balance, ground speed. There is no answer.

Tye,
I think your 50 would be a more even match for a Super H or a 300. The H is more or less comparable to a B at various stages in time.

I got both and a brother and I hooked a chain between them and the 50 would drag the H all over on gravel and on the cement floor of our bunker silo even if we let the h start pulling the 50 backwards first they both had brand new tires on them but the JD 50 outweighs the H by at least 1200# and it is geared lower also
