Really appreciate the sketch you sent way back in December. Got a new switch and wiring harness from Deere. Here's my dilema:(using your drawing) Green goes to field on the sketch so I've put it on a connnector on the switch which is "F." Blue goes to "ignition" and I think I'm OK here too. White shows it goes to the resistor but there's no spot on the resistor to connect the white wire so--I hooked it to a spot on the switch identified as "L". There's a green wire with a push in plug which goes nowhere I can identify. There's a spare connector on the s witch with an "M" that I'm lost about. There is a "G" up by the resistor but nothing to connect it to. I've probably fallen short in my explanation but this is where I'm at for now.Red wire to amp meter and fused link location are no problem. Your forbearance and elucidation much appreciated.

Steve, Tom gave you the correct locations [if you have the original ign switch]. But you don't have an original ign switch, & bad news I haven't ever installed that subbed replacement switch. [Deere subbed that switch to a little different switch]
~I think we should start over & verify ALL your switch terminals & see what ones are different than original.... Look at the back of your switch & tell me EXACTLY what is marked next to each terminal? List all the terminals you have back there & anything about them that looks different?

Steve,

Let's take it from the top:

The white-wire goes to the top of the starter switch on the right-hand side of the top two screws...that is the copper wire coil--the white then connects to the other end of the generator on the F{field] or bottom screw

The green wire goes to the Field/lite screw or the next screw directly under where the white wire goes. The one end of the green wire comes out near the instrument panel for the rear lights, the other end near the wire harness and terminates @ the top of the fan bracket for the front lights.

The blue wire goes to the "Ign" screw through the wire harness and connects to the negative side of the coil [if you have a 6 volt].

Then a black wire coming from the wire-harness attaches to the left screw on the cut-out-relay [opposite the "bat" side"} and then makes a home-run to the "A"-side of the generator..top screw.

Then another black wire goes from the "bat" side of the Cut-out-relay back up to the right [back-side] of the Ammeter. Then on the same right-side of the back of the Ammeter, another black wire goes from this screw to the "Bat" screw on the back of the Ignition Switch...in between this last connection is where your fuse should reside.

Finally, from the starter where the negative wire from battery connects, your red wire goes from here back through the instrument panel and connects to the left back side of the ammeter, opposite where two black wires connect.

Hope this helps... If you have a 12 volt or voltage regulator, then Clooney or John T can help you...I just completely rewired the MT and these guys helped my immensely...

good luck

OK guys here's what I've got: It is a "new" type switch. There are no connections to be made from the resistor where normally the white wire would go. As near as I can tell, I've got two options now for the white wire: A tab marked "L" which is at the right of the resistor (which is in the 12 o'clock position as I look at the back of the switch) or a tab "M" which is left of the resistor and just below it.

My blue wire is hooded to "IGN" on the switch which looks OK.

My green wire is attached to "F" (which I believe is for "field") Another harness must be bought for lights (given the plug in configuration of two connections).

The black wire to the amp gage will come off a "Bat" marked tab.

Guess my only problem is the white wire.

All your other info will work fine (like where to hook the wires).

Steve, you are still not quite correct....

1)-My blue wire is hooked to "IGN" on the switch which looks OK...That is correct...

2)-My green wire is attached to "F" (which I believe is for "field") Another harness must be bought for lights (given the plug in configuration of two connections)...That is incorrect, the WHITE wire hooks to the [F] terminal.

3)-The black wire to the amp gage will come off a "Bat" marked tab...That is correct.

4)-The green [lights] wire will then hook to the [L] terminal.

5)-I don't know about that [M] terminal. it could be a shorting terminal if you have a magneto [maybe?] Or it could be for a later tractor & that terminal could be for an hour meter or even for a rear flood light...If you really want to know you can see if it shorts to ground with the ign switch in the off position [that would make a mag shorting terminal], Or see if it gets powered up with the lights on, or see if it comes on when the ign switch is turned on.....
