I got a new reconditioned dltx99 carb due to a long story we won't get into, but it is to be in absolutely new working order ( the price tag reflects it too).I put it on and it runs but only with partial choke. It idles exceptional well, high idle is good but 7,8,900 rpm it can start to diesle when there is no choke on it may even start to brake up. The old carb didnot have this trouble
It has new manifolds, new good gaskets , no leakage any where but it just isn't right. This machine was running exceptionally well before the other carb was broken... If you could only go back in time!

I just got my operators manual and This morning I warmed the old girl up and went through the proceedure. Fuel screw 2.5 turns
set the low idle 450-500
went to high idle 1450 - 1475
Pulled left plug wire ouch.. damp glove
adjust mixture screw on right to get maximum rpms
Switch sides do same process with other cyclinder
Problem is screw in all the way, way out no difference that was noted by ear or tach?
Any thoughts?
and yes I do get a pencil size stream of fuel for 40 sec or more from the drain. Help please

Bill, try the load screw out another turn & see what happens.
~On the idle screw setting? You don't want to do the idle load balance [short the spark plugs] at fast idle, you need to do that at regular idle speeds [500-600 RPM's]. By the time it's on fast idle the idle screws are almost out of the fuel metering picture so will have little effect.
~One thing to look at is to MAKE SURE the exhaust heat valve is set to EXACTLY hot or cold & not in between.
~If it still runs bad after the above adjustments post back as it sounds like you might have a bad carb.

bad rebuild job, passages are not clean, probably main jet accelaters are stoped, could be vent stopped.
