In the last Antique Power magazine there was an auction sale advertised for last week in Booker, Texas where the Dan Sell Homestead Museum was selling off all their tractors, equipment, and collectable vehicles, etc. In the ad there was listed a 1939 JD model D s/n 151210 and it was in BOLD type in the ad along with other very special or rare tractors (like A MM UDLX, etc). Anybody out there know why this particular tractor was highlighted in the ad as being pretty special???

Al glad you asked the question, hoping some one can enlighten us on it, very interesting topic.
My only guess is it was a 39 styled X model and was renumbered in 1941 and sold, only a wild guess. Sure need Mr.Thinker in on this one. Thanks for the post.
Bob

Yes, I found that confusing too about the year since a listing I have here says that serial number was a '42 model like you said. Hope someone can shed some light on it, there are probably a lot of JD experts hanging around out there somewhere. Maybe I'll post the question over on Tractor Talk, everyone seems to visit that forum.
