John Deere wants $64.00 and tax for a shock absober. Made by Gabriel, their number 13096. Does anybody have another brand, number or source for this item that will fit???

Thanks in advance

Dick

Oh yeah,
Did I mention that it only cost like $21.00! You gotta love that and it even has a life time warranty. Just make sure you tell them it's going on the 69 Chevy truck!:) We did that stuff all the time with management approval for the local farmers needing parts. It was Autozone's way of saying thanks for thinking of them for their farm needs.

My only recomendation for Autozone is not to buy their water pumps! I had to refund/replace more of their pumps than I ever would have imagined. Other than that I really can't complain!
Good luck
Tyler

I used to work at Autozone. I was bored and just happened to be redoing the float-ride seat on my 720. The gabriel number did not cross reference in the Autozone computers or substitute. At least I know autozone couldn't get the exact shock. I was able however to make the rear shock for a 69 chevy 2wd 1/2 ton truck to fit just fine. The only thing is it's red and not quite the right shape. The ends worked just fine for mounting, the only thing was one end has a built in bolt--which worked fine for the bottom just put the nut on the back and there you have it. Anyway, i'm not sure about the part number, but if you can get a shock for the 69 chevy truck it should be really close. I think that the piston travel was within a 1/2" in the compressed side and maybe an 1" longer on the extended position. Good luck

NAPA did the same thing for me for the shock absorber on my 730. They looked up the length of travel and gave me one that had about 1" more. I believe it was a monroe. Painted it green and bolted it on. Works fine.

On the subject of 'ride'... I bought a 'Joyrider' old tractor seat at an auction...it has a little crank to turn on the center section and big springs on the seat itself...What is this thing ,it is MM yellow. Any ideas? Don
