Removing JD A Styled hood panels

How do you remove the hood panels on a JD A (styled). Does the gas tank(s) have to be removed along with hood pieces or can they stay ? Thanks

It's a lot easier to remove the tank with the hood. It's a lot to grab and helps to have someone guide it up the stacks for you. Pull the steering shaft, drain the tank, disconnect the sediment bowl, the rear tank support from the governor housing, the grilles, sometimes the gagues, and lift off. It's been a while since I have done it, but I THINK that's all....good luck, AC

Oh yeah, don't take off the two pieces that go accross the hood under the gas tank, they hold the tank in, and DON'T FORGET to disconnect the shutter opener/closer rod on the clutch side on the tractor UP by the radiator!!!

Ac, How do you disconnect the steering sector, and where do you do it. At front and top of front end bolster or and steering wheel end ?
