Can anyone give me info on a 3 cyl diesel JD 730 (I believe thats the number). I am assuming it is a late '70 model, with approx 1100 hours in good shape. What would be the value of such a tractor? HP ratings? Thanks in advance.

Mark; I have a 3 cylinder JD830 diesel that was manufactured in Germany. I think this model was produced for about 5 years in the late 70's, I think mine is a 1977. Anyway it is a great utility tractor with about 39 HP. Mine has been very dependable and I haven't had any problems getting any parts or accessories.

Hi is this tractor a utility/mowing tractor? My guess is that it is a John Deere 750 utility tractor, later replaced by the 755. I have a price guide that says Deere made an 850 in '78-'89 when it was replaced with the 855(hydrostatic drive)permanently. The book says they made the 750 from'81-'89. For a '81 model with a 3 cyl 78 cubic in. yanmar diesel it had 18.5 P.T.O H.P. The value of it is $4000 fair con., $4600 good condition, and$5300 in premium con. If it has the 4 wheel drive option add $500 dollars to those prices. For the '89 model $6900 fair con., $7500 good con., and $8300 premium con. Add about $900 if it is a newer model with 4wd. Tractor should have 8 forward and 2 reverse gears. Weights 2400-2500 pounds. Hope this helps and is the tractor. We have a 955 John Deere with the yanmar diesels. Bought it new in '91. Been very reliable with about 600 hours. Just watch out if the get a 755/855/955 the drive seal that goes to the rear end had a design flaw and ours went bad after 500 hours and they wouldnt pay for it. So they put a new one in just like the old one and after ten minutes it blew too!! So deere designed a new one and we havent had any problems. Hope this helps and you can understand it all. Matt

My guess is I will have to look at the tractor again to get the correct number. I used the tractor the other day, and found out later, that it may be for sale if I was interested. I thought I had remembered the right number. Again, I need to get the correct number and repost. Sorry if I wasted anyones time.

Only guessing here, but I think the correct number would be an 830. That would be somewhere in line with the age your talking about. The only earlier model with something besides a two cylinder would be the little 435 Diesel built in the late 50's. Someone else will have to help with the value and HP.
