I have what might seem a stupid question....but if a fellow doesn't ask, he doesn't learn.

In Deerespeak, what are folks referring to when they say a tractor has "cutoffs"?

Hey Niner, Cutoffs are what were originally steel wheels which had their outer steel wheels (the outer rim) "cut off" and then regular rubber tire rims were welded to the spokes so rubber tires could be used. They are not as attractive or worth near as much as original steel wheels or original spoke wheels equipped with rubber tire rims. Ol John T Nordhoff in Indiana

the tractor used to have steel wheels with lugs, then with the advent of rubber tires, they cut off the steel outer ring with the lugs and welded on a rim and put on a rubber tire,wa--la cutoffs,,,,Bill
