Tried a lot of everything-gas on-gas off-choke on-choke off-pitcock open and closed- Has good spark-shows good sign of flooding-pulled plugs and dry-checked oil and found gas-carb side of engine has gas coming out-Towed and wanted to run, black smoke just don't stay running. Showed white smoke a couple of times. How tall is the stand pipe in the fuel tank? Gas in tank stuck at 2 inches. Has gas running up hill to get out most places where you don't find fuel. First A could be last...

Sounds too rich to me. Have you cleaned the carburetor and verified that the float is actually floating. They can crack and fill up with fuel. Causes constant flooding. Been there!

It's too rich for some reason, adjust carb and check float to see if it hasn't got a hole in it and full of gas or needle and seat aren't otherwise stuck open. There is no stand pipe in the gas tank. There is supposed to be about 2 inches of brass screen that can corrode and plug up though. Syphon out the gas and unscrew the sediment bowl from the tank to inspect that screen. Replace with stainless steel screen as found in some sprayer rigs, you'll have to cut it and roll your own replacement. But stainless won't corrode with water where Brass will.

Joe S.,

Have you made any adjustments to check the carb. lately? Sounds like you either have a float that is not working or the needle/seat is not closing. Have you checked to see if you choke is working or can the butterfly be stuck giving it too much gas? Did it ever run or did you get it in this condition? How old is the fuel, have you put any new gas in lately? Please post back with some answers and let's take it from there.
