Have some problems in the dual touchomatic, the amount of wear on the right & left crank arms which are inside & splined to the rockshafts. These are the cranks that the piston pushrods push against. Their sockets are quite worn and are now made only of that "special" (unobtainium) alloy.

Was wondering if any of you has been through building up the sockets where the push rods set and if you might have some friendly advice?

What would you recommend to build it up with? Heat first & weld with Ni rod? Phosphor bronze brazing?

How then to best shape the socket back to suitably receive the pushrods? I'm thinking dressing a stone to shape in a die grinder then just grind away.

Hunting for advice!

Thanks.

Buckeye Al, I have built those up before with brazing and grinding like you mentioned. I don't know how long this would last under heavy use, but it will work short term, I know. If you are going to use it a lot, you probably can find good used ones, from John Shepard or other dealers on these sites. I'm taking for granted your tractor is a "W" if so, the "T" has the same part and should be eaiser to find. Of course, there is a difference in right and left.
