Good day to you all I spent my day plowing with the G ran great and the plow worked well to .The problem is my compression release cocks are leaking all over the sides of my new painted Baby. I know I can find used ones but does anyone have a fix or sorce for new ones.

Mike, If the tapered part of the cock is not too worn you can use a little 240 grit lapping compound and re-seat them. Also you will need to install a heavier spring to keep the levers from vibrating open. Hope this helps.

Mikey I too had the same problem on my D's and GP, I found some, called 1/4" NPT DRAIN COCKS that are used on boilers to drain and bleed off parts of the piping, they are brass and only have threads on one end and look some what like the petcocks except they are straight. Now when starting it don't blow oil etc all over front wheel, axle, tire rod, pants leg and or boots, just shoots straight out and gets the guy that is looking over your shoulder while you hand crank. lol.
Got mine from a industrial parts store, for 6.00 ea.
Just a thought, and a 1/4th cents worth.
Bob.

I had the same problem with a model D.I did the rebuild like Joe indicated earlier and it worked.

Before I did this I bought 2 gas valves from ACE with a 90 deg turn handle and this worked the best.

You could also just plug the holes unless you have a hand start

I had the same problem, even with new petcocks. I took out the little pin and put a little washer behind the spring, and that squeases the handle against the main part, causing leakage to stop!
hope it works for you!

Best luck I've had is just to go to John Deere and buy new ones.
