Well Jack I custom bale hay here in north central Texas with a 530 round baler and a 346 wire tie square baler. They are both real good machines. On the 530 I have not had any major problems with it. A few bearings have went out on it and I have had to replace several of the windguard rods on the pickup. They are high dollar too, around 25 bucks apiece, bearings are kinda pricey too. I would say some of the main things too look for would be belt condition and the condition of the splices, look at the pick up and see how many teeth are missing or bent, check the cylinders on it to see if any have been leaking(I'm going to have to rebuild a couple this year), and of course the overall appearance of the machine. I hope to add another baler to the business in the next year or two and will probably go with a 535 and get the net wrap option, that will give me the ability to please more customers if they like that. Personally I don't think I would, it just looks like it would be more trouble to deal with than twine? Never used yet so can't say for sure.

Both the 530 and 535 are super balers. I had a 530 from 1985 to 1992 and then I traded for a 535 net wrap in 1992. They both are high capacity balers. On good going I can drop a bale every 3 minutes. They make haying fun and easy. My bales usually average 1850 pounds. I like the net wrap so well that I never use the twine wrap anymore.

530s are pretty good balers. Value will depend on condition and just who wants it and how bad. The newer 535 is also an excellent baler, and they've been out long enough that you could probably purchase one for not a whole lot more than the 530. The 535 is available with net wrap, if that's something you'd be interested in.
