When engaging the hydraulic pump I cannot get the lever to go to a vertical position with ON at the top like it does when it is OFF. I have not put alot of pressure on it for fear of breaking something. I do not have lines hooked up but the engine pulls down slightly when I engage the lift lever. Is this normal or is someting wrong or in need of adjustment.

Do not try to turn pump on with engine running. You did not mention whether you were doing it that way. Russ

Rich:

I think this might be normal. My pump engagement lever doesen't quite go to vertical.

If the engine pulls down just a bit when you move the PowR-Trol lift lever forward, it is probably pumping and pushing pressure against the relief valve in the PowR-Trol. If it is pushing the lever back to neutral it's working all right.

Since the rockshaft is gravity down, it is probably all the way up right now. You can move it back down manually. With the lever in the drop position, you can take a wrench and rotate the rockshaft back to the down position. Then you can raise the rockshaft by moving the olever to the forward position. After the rockshaft has fully raised, the lever should return itself to the neutral position.

If it does, it's pumping and working fine.
