Bill , has the reverse been ripping when you put it in gear? the 69 models didn't have syncronisers on reverse and if you been ripping it in gear the teeth on the shift coller are burred up and now its locked up. same thing with syncronisers. I had a fellow get stuck once with a 4010 and he was useing high reverse and he split the reverse gear and we took a torch to the field and cut the shaft into so we could pull it out of the mud and load it. best remove the cover and look and see. Hope this helps.Don

Why not disconnect the shift linkages and isolate the problem to the shifter or the tranny. If its the tranny, taking the floor pan off is 4 bolts and the tranny cover is about thirteen 3/8 bolts. You know which linkage moved when you move the shifter while in reverse, so see if you can unjamm the shifter or cam from the inside. Just a thought.

Im shooting in the dark, first I thought that one of the shifting rods had broke where it hooks to the bell crank, could be problem in dash area, binding etc,,The shift quadrants get pretty sloppy with years of use but never seen one stuck because of it, shift rods and bell cranks get wore, oblong holes etc, you say you get slight movement, is it stiff or sloppy,,,, billyiron
