I have a 49 B all fuel with the all fuel manifold. Engine has been sleeved and pistons replaced with gas pistons.Do I need to replace manifold with gas manifold? Thanks.

I would recommend the gas manifold on your setup. And if you are going to use the tractor for tractorpulling then you will definitely want to also remove the baffle on the exhaust side to give you better exhaust flow and 1-2 more inexpensive horsepower. I have done this on my JD-B & G and am very please with the results. Just my 2 cents.

Good Morning, I dont think you will have any problem usign your all fuel (Hot) manifold on gas, after all, it was designed to be used on gas or distillate (all fuels) either one in the first place. It ran hotter in the intake region to better keep the heavy distillate fuels vaporized. However, if youre running very high compressions and a tractor puller, those guys prefer the intake air to be as cool as possible and probably dont want any heat additions like the all fuel manifold might cause.

He said he put gasoline pistons in it. These would be higher compression than the all-fuel pistons. The extra heat from the all-fuel manifold will not be needed and might cause detonation problems. My two cents worth.

J Bennett;

I think that the all fuel manifold works ok on an engine set up for gas, but a gas manifold would work better by giving you a bit more power.

The idea of the fule manifold ( hot manifold ) was to use the exhaust gas to head the intake side. The heating was done to warm the intake fule air mixture so it would burn more completely.

The idea of the gas manifold ( cold manifold ) was to route the exhaust out in a way that it caused the intake side to not be heated. The heating is not needed for gas. The cooler intake mixtre is more dense that a warm mixture. The more dense mixutre allows bringing larger charge of mixture into the cylinder on each stroke, and therefore a bit more power.

Take care and have fun with the B.
