We have a 630 JD that has only been used as a loader tractor for several years, this loader had 1 hydralic line that hooked into the bottom coupler of the tractor, yesterday I removed the loader and hooked up to a 8' tandem disk, the remote cylinder on the disk has 2 hydralic lines so I hooked them both to the tractor, the cylinder seems to work fine as far as raising & lowering the disk but the power trol has a wining noise in it and one of the steel hydralic lines that pass along the floor board in front of the seat appears to be leaking. Do I have the remote cylinder hooked to the tractor correctly or is there any adjustments to the power trol that need to be made and if the steel line is leaking do these lines need to replaced as a set.

Greg, there is a screw on the R/H side of the power-trol or line inlet casting that has to be turned [or removed & turned over] to switch from one way to two way hydraulics. The screw location depends on whether or not you have 1 or 2 remote outlets. Tell us if you have single dual remote outlets, or look in your owners manual for instructions on where that screw is located.

Clooney, thank you for your response. I do have a owners manual for the 630 and my B, the remote cylinder I am attempting to use is the style that is shown in the manual for the B, this cylinder has 2 hydralic lines but does this make it a double acting remote cylinder as shown in the 630 manual. I have used this cylinder behind the B many times and it does not act as what I perceive as a dual acting cylinder (power up and down). If this cylinder is a single acting cylinder can it be used on the 630 and would you only hook 1 line to the tractor, if so which line from the cylinder would attach to the bottom tractor coupler. The 630 has a single valve housing.

Greg, if you have two lines on the cylinder the non pressure line will have to be hooked to the sump, or left completely open. If you deadhead the non pressure side of the cylinder it will compress the oil/air that's in the non pressure side & cause the cylinder to fight you. On the B, the return hose was probably just hooked to the power-trol top fitting side pipe plug opening & that allowed the oil to return to the sump. On your 630 the screw will have to be set for your application or the non pressure side hose left open to atmosphere..
~The reason that your B had the two hoses but only pressure one way was to allow the back side of the cylinder to actually store oil as the piston moved out & supply oil as the piston moved in...
