I'd like for some of you more experienced mechanics to advise me on the best way to pull the clutch bolt at the bottom, so I can replace the pivot bushing in the hand clutch on a 70-730. thanks

I used an 8" c clamp and a socket from my 3/4" set that fit over the head of the bolt. The bolt slides into the cavity of the socket. I loostened the nut a little and placed the fixed end of the clamp on the nut. The screw end of the clamp went over the socket. I sprayed with PB Blaster and tightened the clamp as much as it would take. I tapped and sprayed a little and the bolt started to move. Once it started, it came right out. Good luck.

O'Neil, I make the pullers used to pull these bolts. They are a heavy duty unit and work very well. The price is $25 plus shipping. Mike

Mike, Will your puller work on the styled AR, which has a different and less accessible mounting? I will be starting on the AR sometime in the next year.

Ralph, it should work, but if you can give me the measurements on all sides of your tractor's pivot bolt I can tell you for certain. Mike

O'Neil, the safest & probably the best way is to buy or make a puller that has a hole to go over the back side of the pivot bolt & another piece of steel that actually pushes the bolt end through. DO NOT hammer on that bolt or you risk breaking that ear off the 1st reduction cover [many have been broken]. ~You can make your own using 2 pieces of 3/8" X 2.5" x 6" steel strap & drilling a hole in the center on one piece that will fit over the bolt head & a hole in each piece near the ends so some all-thread can be inserted & tightened.
