I have a 730-LP with optional {5th gear I think} 2nd& 5th are on the sameshaft. When going down hill the transmission comes out of 2nd but the shifter stays in.I haven't tried 5th as I bought it stuck and just got the engine rebuilt.any help would be appreciated.

520-LP, with 2nd& 5th on the same shaft you could have either trans gear sets. 2nd& 5th move to a different place in the trans with the different great sets but remain across from each other in the quadrant.
~The best way to tell gear sets is; on the optional 2nd & 5th gear the 2nd gear will be in the upper L/H corner. The optional 4th gear is harder to tell as it will be only slightly faster at 4-7/8 mph,,, 6th gear will tell you though as it will be about 1 mile an hour faster at well over 12 mph.
~On your trans jumping out of gear...It sure sounds like the overdrive sliding gear is disengaging. Probably due to worn sliding gear shaft bearings or non-functioning overdrive shifter locks. It might not hurt to check the input shaft outer bearing for being worn or check the bearing bore in the reduction cover for being worn oblong...

It's the over and under that is jumping out
