I have JD 1010 RC w/power steering believe to be serial #31000/up .Also i have someone looking for power steering cylinder for his 58'JD 420 #129782....A couple of different listings shows me 420 chassis parts are interchangeable with 1010 parts. Is this true?Up to what serial numbers does it include? Will a steering cyl from late model 420 fit into a later 1010?Any help would be great!Thank you

To ID which serial number range. Where is the gearshift and is the handle bent or straight? Is the transmission's casting front bolt pattern use 4 or 7 bolts/studs. Is there a rectangular plate held down with six bolts on the transmission/final drive casting under the seat? Are are hydraulics low or high pressure. To figure out which chassis, are the finals drive reduction gears mounted inboard or outboard?

I am interested in the fact that you have power steering on your 1010. I have a 1010 RU without power steering. A number of people have commented that 1010's don't have a lot of power at low rpm's, and I find that to be true with mine. That makes me wonder how well they work with the added load of power steering. Any problem with adequate hp on yours?

Okay. So are you looking for parts to make it run or parting it out?

The 1010 chassis was supposed to be essentially the same as the 420/430, and I have heard that some of the parts are interchangable.

If armed with the 1010 parts manual and the JD two cylinder parts CD you can cross refernce what parts mix and match.Otherwise don't try. The greatest amount of cross over occurs from the slant steer 420's/430's and the 1010's up to serial number 31,000 of the same chassis style.
