Stripped old paint off fan and found yellow underneath. Is this factory paint, or should it be green? Thanks!

I believe the yellow you found could be the yellow primer that JD used. I would paint it green.

According to my John Deere Tractor Data book the fan blades were painted yellow on the 41-46 GM model tractors. I think the yellow fan blades look good and believe that is correct. I have heard it both ways so paint however you like, its your tractor.

Yellow was used as a primer at least some of the time. I think our 46 A came with a green fan, but the prewar B was yellow(?).
