Sloppy Valvetrain on Model 60

The "tick" inside my valve cover on my 60 is gradually getting a little louder over the past year. In examining the valve rocker assembly, I believe I'm starting to get wear on the rocker shaft (where the rockers are located) and maybe the rockers themselves are becoming enlarged/elongated; oh well, it's to be expected after 48 years?
Since neither of these parts are still available from Deere, what is the best way to "machine my way" out of this? Should the shaft be turned down and then ream and bush the rocker arms? If so, anyone have any idea of what kind of tolerance I want to hold between the rocker arm and the shaft?
Thanks in advance!

I would say the cleanest way out the the mess would be to use a whole new shaft (solid?) and bush the rocker arms. Clearance would be tight - in the couple thousandths only range. Some folks suggest that the valve end of the rocker arm be ground to remove old wear pattern of the end of the valve stem, but as I understand it, that metal is hardsurfaced and the new ground surface then wouldn't be hard. Double check with your favorite machinist no matter what.
