I took out my next project, a BO that had been sitting for two years. It started right up and I was too excited and I didn't check the coolant. It ran for about fifteen minutes and I put it in the shop. I started to take it down and discovered no coolant. Any way that I can check for cracks or damage without removing the head and block and getting them magnafluxed? I need to slow down and think. Ken

My A had an airlock in the cooling system after I had drained and refilled it. I ran it about 20 min before it "burped" and the coolant level dropped out of sight. The engine was not hot or really overheated. As these are thermosiphon systems they don't really circulate much anyway unless they get really up to temp. On a cold day my A never gets up to temp unless I close the shutters. Thus I doubt that you damaged anything.

Chances are you didnt do any damage. Maybe pressure test the cooling system first and see what develops. If its okay the run it and keep an eye on the coolant level. No sense tearing it down looking for a problem that mite not be there.
