What ever became of or does Mother Deere still make/use a decendant of the 404/466 used in the 4020/4050? Or the 531/619 used in the 5010/5020/6030 and the acticulated 40 & 50 series 4WD's?

G Taylor, the descendants of the 404/466 are alive and well. Displacement has been increased to 8.1 liters (6081), and they've been used in the 8400/10/20 from the getgo, and were installed in the 8100, 8200 and 8300 during production. They are also used in the small four-wheel drive, combines, and many other applications, including power units (even natural gas versions), OEM engines and so forth. There's not a lot of parts commonality, but the basic architecture is the same. The 6076 replaced the 466 and filled in the gaps between it and the 6081. The 6531 and 6619 are long gone - replaced by the 6125 (12.5 liter) and 6105 (10.5 liter). The 6105 is no longer produced either. So, the 6081 and 6125 are the two big-dogs in Deeres engine line. The 12.5 is rated up to 450 horses in the big four-wheel drives and track tractors. They're good motors.
