Anyone heard of Dearborn Farm Equipment?

I was at a sale yesterday and bought a 2-row 3-point mount cultivator. The tag reads: "Dearborn Farm Equipment", "Dearborn Motors Corporation", "Manufactured in the USA", "Model 12-2A ("A" may be a "4")", "Serial Number 3 (may be an "8") 853".
In doing a couple of searches for "Dearborn Farm Equipment" it appears that Dearborn may have been affiliated with Ford Tractors; particularly old 8N's and 9N's?
Any info on the Dearborn line (or this cultivator) would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance!

There is a Dearborn loader for a Ford/Ferguson tractor not too far from here but also my dad bought a four wheel wagon from an IH dealer that closed in 1960 and it is a Dearborn wagon.

Was another name for Ford equipment 40 years ago. Scraper, 3 pt cultivator, loader still setting in the back end of brother's machine shed.

Thanks, Ralph!
The one I bought is in near mint condition. Looks like a very sturdy unit as well. It's painted "Deere Green"; it either came that way when new or someone did a GREAT job painting it!
Thanks again for the info

My Dad has one that he bought new,`and I was thinking it was reddish when it was newer, but it was definitely not green. They work really good. I don't know the model number on his, but he uses it to this day on his '52 Ford 8N for the garden.

All of those in the bro's shed are red and were red when new. Same as the red-bellied Fords.

Dearborn Farm Equipment was the company that Henry Ford II started after WWII when the relationship with Ferguson was disolved. The company was a business expedient to produce and market both the 8N tractor and an array of implements, and allowed for other individuals (management employees) to hold stock in the company without the Ford family having to divest itself of any actual Ford stock and possibly lose family control of the company.

I happen to have a small combine that is a DEARBORN-WOODS BROTHERS that was towed by a tractor but had a Ford Farming Engine to power the mechanism of the combine. I wonder if the engine is the same as was on the tractor? It looks like it probably is. The paint is weathered but looks like it was originally the same red as on the 8N tractor. It would be interesting to know if anybody collects and restores implements of this type?

I just found an old 8 10 b/w photo of my husband's grandfather standing beside a tractor with a planter of some kind on it. He is standing beside a knee high sack of what I'm assuming to contain seed. The planter attachment on the tractor has 2 open "buckets" full of seed on each side of one larger enclosed "Bin" filled with seed. The buckets say "Dearborn" on them. The most interesting thing about this photo though is that we know they could not have afforded to have this photo made just for fun. On the back of the photo it is stamped "Dearborn Motors Corporation, Detroit 3, Michigan, and then a line underneath that stars with "Neg No._____ _____" with no number in the space. I'd like to know if anyone knows who might have taken a photo like this and what it might have been used for. FYI My husband's grandfather died in 1963 and he already looks pretty old in this photo. Please respond using my email address if you can help me. Thanks.

I was just looking through these archives to find out what was out there on Woods brothers combines. My dad had one. I can still remember the groaning it made when they (my older brother and dad) would do the backswath. I have dad's Woods Bro corn picker and plan on starting to redo it this spring. Would be interested in your combine if you are interested in selling.

Thanks

Marlin
