I just got my 40 engine rebuild gasket kit and there are no lead washers with it for head bolts or rocker rail. Do I need to replace them or are they not even lead? Also my connecting rod bolts had jam nuts on them, what should they be torqued to? Also what is the torque for intake/exhaust manifold and water pipe and oil pan? Should I be using a head gasket sealer or not? If you can answer all these question I would be in business and be very greatful. Kevin

Heres a quick answer look at this link, there are slight differances between these and other mannuel write ups by a few pounds here and there wont make any differances!http://www.jd40.com/40_service_data1.htm

torque up rods and jam up the retainers. use a compound for head gasket, run and re torque. oil pan bolts i think are only a 1/4"dia so around 1/4 12 lb 3/8 20 7/16 30 1/2 45 regards nigelB
