Installing studs in cylinder block

I'm reinstalling the studs in the cylinder block but noticed some of these studs screw into the water jacket. I've heard from some that you should use something like antiseize on the threads and others have suggested using teflon tape. What is the best way to seal this off or what's proper to use on all of the threads for these studs?

Thanks for the followup guys. Hopefully, it won't be long now before I'll have the old girl running.

JD-G, if you will notice on the studs one end is flat and one is round. The flat end goes into the block. The threads are not cut quite as deep as the round end is and this provides a slight interference fit. I usually use a light coating of #3 Permatex on these studs before installation. It is also a lot easier to install them when the block is already in the tractor. I usually double nut the round end and install. Not a big deal. Mike

It would be good if you could have the studs sealed & I suppose there any number of sealers that will do this, but it really isn't necessary, as that's what the lead washers under the head nuts are there for. I also believe the washers provide some lubrication as the head is tightned.

I'm not a mechanic!! I hire one when it comes to overhauls, but I think if you look at those studs, the threads on the block end are slightly "oversize". They will seal if turned in tight. I would probably use some anti-seize, but have gotten to dislike teflon tape. The last batch I got was string-like at best and granular at worst.
