Is there any reason I should not use Shell Rotella T oil in my JD H, 50, and 60 gas tractors. Thanks much for the input.

There is an oil out there that is better than Rotella T. Rotella is designed for on highway use where engines are run at full power about 40% of the time in a relitively clean environment. How ever there is an oil designed for off-road engines that operate at full power about 90% of the time in an extremely dirty environment. That oil is John Deere Torque Guard 15w40, that also meets or exceeds all manufacturers specs for warranty.

Shell makes an off road version of the Rotella too. I can't think of what the name of it at the moment though. Rotella T has been working in all of my equipment and diesel trucks for a long time now, and i don't have to pay deere prices for it!! Keep your oil changed, and any of the common brand oils are good enough. Robert

Would that be Shell "Rimula" Premium ? I saw that for the first time at my oil dealer. The spec sheet seems to read as if it is more intended as an ag oil.

I use it in all my engines, gas and diesel.

The Shell Rotella T 15W-40 product spec sheet says it "meets or exceeds the manufacturer's warranty requirements of virtually all diesel and gasoline engine manufacturers - for both newer and older engines. It is recommended for all on-highway and off-highway applications, especially where all-season use is desired".
