Has anyone repaired a G carb that has been frozen and broken off at the bottom of the threads?

Elton, most of the major carb shops (Robert's, Denny's etc) can repair carbs with broken bowl stems. Your best bet would probably be to contact one of them, as they can do it right the first time (I highly recommend Robert's) and test-run the carb to make sure it's right before sending it back. I've seen some shadetree repairs of carbs broken in that area, and the results weren't impressive.

It might be worth a try if you're good at brazing, which I'm not anymore, lol. I used to be decent, but don't get enough practice these days. I'm definitely a do-it-yourself kind of guy, but there's certain things that I'd just as soon leave to the pros. Especially when they'll back up their work with a guarantee. It may seem "cheaper" to do it yourself, but unlike a lot of old tractor guys, I do tend to put a dollar value on my own time (probably as a result of working on green iron for a living), and if it figures out that I'm going to be time and money ahead to let someone else do something I'm not familiar with, I have no problem paying them to do it.
